Online gambling is any form of gambling conducted online. This includes casinos, online poker and live poker. First online gambling venue open to the public, was online ticketing for the maiden Liechtenstein International Poker tournament in 1994. The tournament was won by Germany’s Christoph Wulf. Since then there have been numerous other online gambling venues with the most famous one being Poker Stars. While some may view online gambling as nothing more than an extension or evolution of live gambling some would argue that this is not true.
With all the games available such as slots, video poker, bingo and poker online casinos have emerged as a true competitor to live casinos. One of the most interesting arguments made in support of the claim that online gambling has become a serious rival of live casinos is that online casino sites are legally bound to act in the same manner as their live counterparts when it comes to fraud and cheating. It is not uncommon to find online casinos conducting play off the same decks as their live counterparts and it is even common practice for players to change their odds and bet sizes on online casinos just like they would at a live venue. However, as a legal matter it may not be possible for an online casino to change the outcome of a game if fraud is involved, therefore it is not something that an online gambling site would be able to prevent.
I have no opinion on whether online gambling should be made legal or not, however, I do feel that it is important for players to read the main article before betting or playing. My main article is titled “What Can I Do?”. If you want more information on what I have to say about this subject please follow the links below. Enjoy!
